Steps To Enjoyable Worship!
John 4:23: “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him”.
Psalms 95:6: “O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker”.
The presence of the Lord filled the air such that you could see the joy of the Lord all over the faces of the worshipers when all of a sudden someone tapped me and said “I wish I could experience what they were feeling.” Today there are many people feeling this way, in fact there are entire churches filled with people having this same desire. Why? It is because there is a misunderstanding of true worship. Many churches today have what is characterized as entertainment as opposed to worship. While people may leave there entertained they rarely leave having had a real worship experience. To help you truly experience what worship is I present to you R.E.S.S. (Reverence, Emotion, Surrender & Submission). A) Reverence: Recognize how high, holy, awesome and sovereign Jesus is and consciously in your heart begin to give him the respect He deserves. B) Emotion: Begin to express your respect, gratitude and adoration from your heart and not your lips or thoughts only. True worship like any form of communication always involves the emotions; for communication is not only received it is also felt. These feelings automatically bring us to a place where we flow with expressions to Jesus that are filled with sincere utterances from the reality of who we are. C) Surrender: Never come before Jesus with a hardness of heart determined to have only your way, but come with a surrendered heart letting go of your all for there is none greater than Him. When worshipping the Lord there often comes an overwhelming feeling of how holy He is and how unholy we are as well as a sensation of gladness that bring tears causing us to feel out of control. Don’t fight this; let it happen. Let Him know that you surrender your will and desire only His. D) Submission: Now that you’ve gone this far take it all the way. Bow down before Jesus, totally adoring and giving reverence to Him. Look up the word worship in your Bible and you’ll be surprised how bowing down is so greatly associated with this wonderful act of worship. It is one thing to give lip service, but it is a totally different thing when you truly worship the Lord. True worship becomes a love fest between you and the Lord, so worship Him in spirit and in truth.
