Luke 9:42: “And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and tare him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.”
Luke 22:32: “But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not; and when thou are converted, strengthen thy bretheren.”
Have you ever prayed about a situation and things suddenly got worse? What did it do to your faith? Did you continue to believe? If not you have purchased what was once called, a “Wolf Ticket.” In other words the enemy of your soul attacked your faith by causing you to fear and tricked you into believing the following things: 1) Jesus did not hear you 2) Jesus is not working on your behalf 3) Prayer does not work. As in the case of the man in the above scripture asking Jesus to cast a devil out of his son, we must remember that things can appear to sometimes get worse before they get better. This is a common tactic used by the enemy for several reasons. One of the reasons is that you are not always able to see what Jesus is doing behind the scenes. When the children of Israel prayed for a deliverer, God sent Moses. When Moses went before the Pharaoh it resulted in Pharaoh taking away the straw they used for making bricks and their plight became much worse. However, what they didn’t know was that God was actually bringing down the entire empire including its gods so that they would be set free. The fact of the matter is you don’t know how Jesus will work your situation out, so don’t panic and lose faith. The other reason for this tactic has to do with the enemy’s desperation to hold on to territory in your life. Remember the men that were possessed with devils (Matthew 8:28-32)? Those spirits spoke out because they recognized that Jesus had the power and inclination to cast them out. Consequently they started manifesting. The enemy fights his worse when he is about to lose, which further means that you are about to win. So don’t get caught up with what you see. Remember “we walk by faith, not by sight” (II Corinthians 5:7).
