Who’s On The Lord’s Side?
Matthew 12:30: “He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.”
Isaiah 55:8: “For my thoughts are not your thought, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.”
In the moral climate that we live in with the majority allowing their sense of what’s right, wrong or acceptable to be shaped by whatever happens to be popular for the moment; we are faced not with the question of whether God is on our side, but whether we are on God’s side! We are literally living in the same situation of Elijah the prophet and King Ahab; where Elijah urged the people, as did Joshua, to “choose ye this day (I Kings 18:21-24, Joshua 24:15).” There is no middle ground with the Lord. You’ve got to be FOR what He’s FOR and AGAINST what He’s AGAINST. Don’t you find it interesting how we can shout God’s praises to the roof top and then when it comes to things we desire that are contrary to God’s word, the Bible, We tend to talk about how we feel, what we think or what we believe? How often have we defended our wrong actions with the proverbial “well I feel…, I believe…. Or I think…? We’ve got to ask ourselves: “What is my foundation for truth?” In other words, on what do you base right and wrong? As believers we base it on the Word of God (the Bible). Why the Bible? It is because the Bible is powerful, quick, sharper than any two edged sword, forever settled in Heaven (immutable), won’t come back to God void (gets the job done), endures forever (timeless), will not pass away (indestructible), fits every situation and is plenary. When it comes to His word our feelings, thoughts or beliefs don’t matter! Joshua saw an angel with his sword drawn and asked him if he was for them or their enemies and the angel let him know that he wasn’t for either, but on God’s side indicating that he had better be on God’s side too (Joshua 5:13,14). Saints, Jesus never has to be on our side, but, as Joshua found out, it certainly behooves us to make sure that we are on His side. Are you on God’s side?
