Make Your Own Altar Call

Acts 8:26: “And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?”

Psalms 107:20: “He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”

The “Altar Call”, being one of those misunderstood parts of the church service, is a time during the service where we minister to the needs of the people that either have not been met or could not be met in any other part of the service. Usually people are given the invitation to receive salvation, healings, deliverance and a host of other blessings. The standard “Altar Call” is demonstrated in the words of Jesus in Matthew 11:28-30. It’s the scripture where Jesus is ending his sermon and says “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden.” It is quite significant that we don’t see many standard “Altar Calls” in the Bible, however, applying the type of “Altar Call” we do see in scripture has the ability to revolutionize our hearing and receiving of the word of God. For the people in the scriptures made personal “Altar Calls.” People in that day received the Word as it was being ministered and were consequently healed, delivered and set free. They sometimes interrupted the sermon or teaching by literally making their own “Altar Call.” Please understand that the Word is not just being preached to us, it is ministered to us. In other words the Word is coming forth to meet your needs, situations and problems. As you hear the Word it is up to you to receive the Word, believe the Word and act in faith on the Word. Thus making your own “Altar Call.” Have you ever noticed that the preacher, worship leader, person testifying or singing seems to be ministering just to you? Have questions been answered during a sermon or a revelation been given to you concerning some sickness or decision you need to make? It is at that moment that you need to receive, for your “Altar Call” moment is right then! It’s just like the scripture above says “He sent his word.” Let me emphasize here that, in a church service, everything leads to the ministering of the Word and the ministering of the Word leads to the standard “Altar Call.” However, please understand that many blessings can be received during the ministering of the Word. Having said all of that; we encourage you not wait for the standard “Altar Call”, but to “Make Your Own Altar Call.”
