Obtaining Mercy, Grace And Help
Text: Hebrews 4:12-16
Hebrews 4:16: “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
One of the greatest privileges afforded to us through the shed blood of Jesus is deliverance; the act of being set free from one’s temptations/weaknesses. The problem, however, is that while our text teaches us to come forth boldly to the throne many of us have found ourselves crippled because of fear of being exposed and embarrassed. It is the enemy of our souls who uses this threat to make us believe that it is unattainable. Oh, but in spite of his deceptions we have been given free access to the throne of grace! With this in mind I want you to take in the following three points for breaking out of the bondage of fear and shame and moving into the blessing of deliverance. A) Hold fast to your profession. In other words, profess that in spite of what may happen you are going to get set free and the Lord is going to bring you out. And stand on it! You may need to get angry and become tired of being sick and tired of the situation. Say it out loud to yourself until you feel it! B) Understand that God already knows your secrets, faults, intentions and sins, so there is no need to hide or worry about being exposed. Realize that it doesn’t matter who else knows. Everyone has secret sins besides it is all covered under the blood of Jesus. Furthermore, realize that the enemy uses your secrets to keep you condemned, scared and in bondage. Expose it before God and take the steam out of it. C) Finally, knowing that Jesus feels your pain and understands your weaknesses, come boldly and receive your deliverance through confessing and exposing the enemy’s hold on your life while professing your victory given to you by God’s mercy and grace. For you have the every right to come to Jesus boldly! You must come boldly, not justifying your sinfulness, but boldly in the sense that you will hide nothing so that you may be made free. You must not remain in denial with yourself or God. For that reason, I implore you to put the enemy to shame and take hold to what is rightfully yours! Don’t let anyone or anything shame you out of your rest from the battle of your captivity. Jesus said “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:29).” After receiving deliverance you will feel a relief (rest) from that burden. So come on and be free from your burden of sin for there is power in the blood!
