Don’t Go To Hell
Luke 16:23: “And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments…….”
Mark 9:44: “…where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.”
Rev. 14:11: “And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up forever and ever; and they have no rest day nor night.”
Isn’t it funny how today you have more people in various ways telling us to go to this God forbidden place when, in the past, preachers use to tell us not to go? With so little being said about it lately I would dare venture that there are those who have no idea what it is. There are three words used for Hell in the Bible. They are Sheol, Hades & Gehenna. To make it simple they basically mean the grave, place of the dead and finally the fiery furnace. Hell is a place of eternal punishment for those who do not receive the salvation freely given to us through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. It was originally meant for the Devil and his angels (Matt. 25:41), but became the place of eternal death for unregenerate man as a result of Adam’s sin (Rom. 5:12). Since that time man has become so corrupt that Hell has enlarged itself to fit all those who insist on going there (Isaiah 5:14). In Hell people will burn forever (Rev. 4:11) and will be tormented by worms that will never die (Mark 9:43-48). People say that God couldn’t possibly send anyone to a place like that. Actually he doesn’t want to (II Pet. 2:9). That’s why Jesus died for us (John 3:16). The fact of the matter is that we choose to go to this place. People want to laugh and joke saying that it will be a great party in Hell because facing the truth as in the rich man’s (Luke 16) testimony is much too painful a picture to bare. Knowing about the true existence of Hell makes it very uncomfortable for us to live ungodly lives. To that end others will say that we are scaring people into getting saved. I say if it keeps them out of the Lake of Fire, it is worth the scare. Bottom line is we do not have to go. Jesus gave us a choice. We could repent, get baptized in Jesus’ name and be filled with the gift of the Holy Spirit insuring the cancellation of our trip there or do absolutely nothing and end up in Hell. All I have to say to that is PLEASE DON’T GO TO HELL!
