Flee Temptation And Overcome Weaknesses Pt2

2 Peter 2:9: The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished”

Galatians 6:1: “Bretheren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.”

Romans 8:37: “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”

In part one of this series we discussed the danger of blatantly exposing ourselves to temptations, but in this issue we are going to talk about those who have been overtaken and are in need of deliverance. First of all I want you to understand that regardless of the temptation our God is able to deliver us from it especially those we cannot avoid. I also want to remind everyone that there are basic things like daily reading the WORD, praying and having fellowship with positive believers which keep us in good spiritual health (Eph. 5:14-21). When these things are not a part of our regular routine, then you can certainly expect to become off balanced in your spiritual walk. Our text lets us know that in spite of our freedom from sin that some of us will find ourselves overtaken. In many situations it is a case of being taken-over or entangled. This is not your ordinary “oh I made a mistake and I simply need to repent and go on about my business.” This is when you find yourself saying “For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.” Yes, I am speaking of times when you find yourself unable to stop sinning. Romans 6:14 teach us “Sin SHALL NOT have dominion over you.” Please understand that even though you may be entangled, it is not permanent! YOU WILL BE MADE FREE! Can we again come to reality in regard to this? It is time to REPENT of and RENOUNCE the sin and bondage that has come upon you as a result of YOUR desires! Don’t even think that you can’t! NO MORE EXCUSES! NO MORE LIES TO YOURSELF! When you cross out the “I” in your life (I want, I need and I desire etc), then you’ll truly be bearing your own cross. Once you’ve repented and renounced these things you’ve connected yourself back to the will of God. At this point you will feel clean and refreshed again. Go back to the relationship that you had with the Lord prior to this mess. Celebrate your freedom. Worship God in the beauty of holiness and the boldness of one who has the right to praise him! If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed. Go ahead and get your praise on! Put on those spiritual track shoes and let’s become more than conquerors!
